The short version
- OnlyFans says 5,076 creators have earned more than $1 million on the platform since it launched in 2016.
- It says it has paid creators more than $30 billion in ten years, and about $6.3 billion in its last financial year alone.
- Those millionaires are a tiny fraction of the millions of creator accounts. Most creators earn modest amounts.
- The useful benchmark isn’t the top 0.1%. It’s your own numbers, month on month.
Every few months a headline tells you how much money the top creators make. This one is a good one: OnlyFans says 5,076 creators have now earned more than a million dollars on the platform. I read it with my morning coffee and had the same two thoughts I always have. Good for them. And: please don’t use this as your benchmark.
What OnlyFans announced
In late August 2026, alongside the annual accounts of its parent company, OnlyFans shared a few milestone figures:
The platform keeps 20% of what fans spend, so behind that $6.3 billion are fans who spent several billion more. As businesses go, it’s a very large and very profitable one.
The number behind the headline
Here’s the bit the headline doesn’t say. OnlyFans has millions of creator accounts. Even the most generous reading puts the millionaires at roughly one in a thousand of them, and that’s lifetime earnings over up to ten years, not a single year.
Independent estimates of what a typical creator makes vary a lot, but most land somewhere between about $100 and $200 a month. Those are rough, outside estimates, not official figures, and they include a huge number of accounts that barely post. But the shape is clear: a small group at the very top earns most of the money, and the middle is much quieter than social media suggests.
None of that means you can’t build a real income. It means the millionaire figure is a story about the top of the market, not a forecast for your page.
Natalia’s take
When I started in 2017, I was trying to pay off about 18,000 in debt, not become a headline. That’s the number that mattered, so that’s the number I tracked. Then I wrote down an exit number and left when I hit it. Compare yourself to the top 0.1% and you’ll feel like a failure on a good month. Compare yourself to last month and you’ll actually see what’s working.
What to do with this news
- Pick your own benchmarks. Revenue this month against last month, new subscribers, how many renew, and what each fan spends. Those numbers you can change.
- Remember the platform takes its cut first. Price with the 20% in mind, and put your tax share aside on payout day. Here’s how to raise your prices without losing your fans if you’re still undercharging.
- Don’t let a headline sell you a shortcut. Big numbers are exactly what agencies and “courses” use in their pitches. If someone promises to make you one of the 5,076, read the contract twice.
- Write down your number. Not a million unless that’s genuinely yours. The amount that would change your life, and the date you want to hit it by. Your exit plan starts on day one.
